As a wildlife conservationist and safari guide based in Nairobi, I’ve had my fair share of hotel experiences, some memorable and others just plain disappointing. Last year, my family chose the Octave for a vacation, hoping for a family-friendly atmosphere, and we were eager to return this year. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned to frustration. The hotel was undergoing repairs upon our arrival, which wasn’t disclosed beforehand. We arrived with our 4-year-old and discovered there were no available rooms. We had to find alternative accommodations, which not only drained our spirits but our wallet too. The staff were very attentive, and my child had a wonderful time with activities offered for kids. I hope they rectify these issues for future families looking for a comfortable stay.
